A BASINGSTOKE boy won seven medals across five intense events at an international competition this month.
Caiden Griffin, 10, from Chineham represented GB team at the Pentathlon UIPM European Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run championships in Marathon, Greece, and came back with a collection of medals.
In the U11 Laser-Run (continuous Run-Shoot) competitions Caiden Griffin, who is already the Laser-Run Under 11s British Champion, took individual gold to become the European Laser-Run Champion.
Later Caiden and his teammate took gold in the mixed Laser-Run relay event.

In the U11 Biathle (continuous Run-Swim) events, he claimed individual bronze and team gold in the individual event, and team gold in the mixed relay event, before going on to add another individual bronze and team gold to his medal haul for the U11 Triathle (continuous Swim-Run-Shoot) individual event.
“Training for these competitions was really tough but it was all worth it, I’m so happy with my results and I’d like to thank my coaches and teammates for all their support,” said Caiden.
Just starting her international career, his eight-year-old sister Pippa Griffin, managed to win another three medals for GB, team gold for U9 Laser-Run, silver for the U9 Laser-Run mixed relay, and bronze for individual U9 Laser-Run.

Despite his success with the GB team, unfortunately, due to a leg injury on the last day, Caiden has had to pull out of the upcoming World Championships but is looking forward to making a speedy recovery before moving up to U13s age category next year.
“I’m gutted I can’t make the world championships, but I’ll be preparing for next year! I wish all my teammates good luck for the worlds,” said Caiden.
Caiden recently broke the Basingstoke Junior Park Run record that had stood for five years.
