Basingstoke Hammers eased through the first round of the North Hants Senior Cup on Sunday, writes Tony Spencer, with a 14-1 home victory over Winchester's Dad’s Army FC.
Cameron George tested the "Walmington-on-Sea" non-barbed-wire defences with eight goals, Sonny Hayes got a tin-hat-trick, Miles Burgess a brace and substitute Jay Reed a single.
Tadley Town beat Winchester side AFC Hiltingbury 7-1, with an Ellis Theodore brace, Jack Dunne, Charlie Neville, Jack Sedgwick, subs Troy Thain and Josh Stokes singles.
Hampshire Irons won their fourth game in a row with a 4-1 win over Bramley United, with Billy Wilson reducing the deficit.
New Park Rangers lost 4-0 at Andover club South Wonston Swifts.
Basingstoke Saints travelled to AFC Tukkers and lost 7-0 to one of the stronger Andover sides.
Republic of Chineham went through without kicking a ball, as hosts Worthies Sports & Social withdrew from the competition, giving Republic three wins in a row, the last two awarded in their favour.
New Park Rangers Reserves won their North Hants Chris Price Cup tie 0-4 at Andover's AFC Chestnut, with Samie Aldoori, Dan Bloma, Tyrell Reid and Bailey Roffey scoring, their third win in a row.
With a bare 11 Oakridge B faced a challenge travelling to Andover League side Station Athletic and were 0-2 down at the interval, due to a defensive error and a penalty. Starting the second half with determination, Oakridge piled pressure on the hosts, with good link up play from Floyd Maumbe and Taku Hwehwe, to find Shandip Thebe Limbu who finished it 2-1. Attacking again, Taku Hwehwe beat the defender, crossed to Funnso Otudeko, who finished it nicely to level 2-2. Towards the end the of the game, Ngoni Madzimbamuto got through on goal, the keeper committed his dive to feet and Ngoni chipped in to lead 2-3. With no time left, the home team got another penalty, and converted for a 3-3 draw. Oakridge one the shoot-out 2-4 with the keeper making two saves! An excellent team performance.
AFC Berg won their North Hants John Ward Cup home tie 10-3 against Stratton Park Rangers, after leading 4-1 at the interval. Ashley Elward scored a hat-trick, Scott Elliott a brace, Jimmy Muss, Anton Medford, Louis Vickery, Scott Bootes and Benji Colson, one apiece. A great result, through good possession with the ball and some fantastic goals for Berg.
In a really lively, entertaining game full of great goals, Basingstoke Boars got off to a bright start, Liam Harris scoring after 4 minutes following slack defending from RBL (Tidworth) Reserves who hadn't really got going. However, the visitors rallied and their intense pressure unsettled the Boars, and were rewarded for their persistence when they levelled 1-1. But Boars' pace on the counter proved too much, as 17-year-old Razvan Roman was put through and slotted home 2-1 on 30 mins. The second half saw Raz score another goal, his shot turned in by unfortunate keeping (from a keeper who had otherwise made some great saves). Tidworth bounced back to equalise 3-3. Raz won a penalty which he finished to get his hat-trick. Lee Cobern, who had provided an assist, turned scorer for 5-3. before Tom Eldred finished the tie 6-3, although this late flurry doesn't reflect how tight the game was.
Visitors Herriard Sports started their tie the faster of the two sides. Hosts Riverdene Rovers had an early opportunity to get ahead but once Herriard scored, the flood gates opened, with Chris Dobbie off the mark on 4 mins, Chris Newlove got a quick hat-trick on 17 mins, 22 mins and 35 mins, before Sam Weber on 44 mins made it 0-5 at the break. Riverdene had some good opportunities in the second half with two great saves by Dave Purt, but Stephen Beanie netted for Herriard on 53 mins, Dobbie got his second 6 mins later, Weber's brace completed on 61 mins, Dobbie got his hat-trick on 72 mins and Beanie added three more on 77 mins, 78 mins and 85 mins. Keeper Dave Purt finished it 0-13 on 90 mins.
Newchester narrowly beat Soldiers Return 3-2 with Jacob Burrows, Elliot Lyons and Louis Cooper netting home goals, with Matt Ellis and Ryan Light replying for Soldiers.
Hampshire Royals were 0-1 up at the break at Cranbourne Rangers, adding two more to win 0-3, their second success against Cranbourne this season.
Goals from Richard Bassett, George Eastman and Oliver Luttrell helped Wellington win 3-2 against Farnham Spitfires. Josh Pegged and Joshua Raw replied for the visitors.
The Oak FC notched up their second win of the season with a 1-6 result at AFC Popley.
Brookvale United narrowly lost 1-0 at Whitchurch United Vets, ending a run of five wins.
Cameron Feeney's brace helped Basingstoke Casuals draw 2-2 with visitors Hayward. The Andover Division 3 leaders maintained their 100% record this season winning the penalty shoot-out 1-4.
AFC Ramsdell lost 10-0 at MVF Andover.
The Wherwell Royals and Ambient tie was postponed and rescheduled for this Sunday.
Hartley Sunday eased through the opening round of the Eric Holbrook Sunday Cup 2-7 at Meadow Sports U23, with strikes from Emeka Nwaubani, three penalties by Elliot Miles-Kirkham, sub Ryan Bray, Jordan Cochelin and a Leuan Atkinson penalty.
In Division 2 Republic of Chineham Reserves beat Eastrop Eagles 1-0, their fifth win in a row, which was Eastrop's first defeat in four games.
A Jordan Wainwright goal settled White Ash Rovers 1-0 win over AFC Aldermaston.
