A NEW retirement development in Tadley has been named - reflecting the site's long history.
The winning submission, Yelland Place, was sent in by residents Beryl Oliver, Vicki Tamblin, Nicky Ray, and Martin Russell – all of whom wanted to pay homage to Reading Warehouses, which was owned by the Yelland family and previously stood on the development’s land for over 60 years.
McCarthy Stone, the developer and manager of the retirement living on New Road, called for locals to name the new development, giving them the opportunity to put their stamp on the Tadley community.

Divisional marketing manager Nicki Beswarick said: “We wanted to choose a name for the Tadley development that was not only meaningful, but would also resonate with local people. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Beryl, Vicki, Nicky, and Martin for naming our new development, Yelland Place.
“We are really looking forward to the launch of the development when apartment specifications and prices will be released. Early birds will benefit from purchasing off-plan by having the pick of all the available plots. It is an incredibly exciting time for our business as interest in the site is high amongst retirees who already live in Tadley, as well as with those who are looking to downsize from further afield to take advantage of the enviable independent lifestyle that will be available once the development is complete.”
