A NEW dance competition with celebrity judges that was filmed in Basingstoke is set to be released on Netflix next month.
As previously reported, people from Basingstoke were given free tickets to watch the filming of Dance Monsters, at Black Hangar Studios in Lasham, which were given away through Applause Store in October 2021.
Finally, Netflix has now announced that the series will launch on December 16, with eight 40-minute episodes.

Starring a judging panel of Ashley Banjo, Lele Pons and Ne-Yo and hosted by Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, the programme is described by Netflix as a “feel-good competition” with amateur dancers disguised as motion capture monsters bringing their best moves and hoping to wow the judges in a bid to win $250,000.
At the time of filming in October last year, the audience was sworn to secrecy over the identity of the members of the judging panel and celebrity host.

The show will see competitors perform dance routines in front of the judges, having been transformed into creatures.
Using VFX, live motion capture and facial recognition, those taking part will transform into loveable and fantastical dance monsters that come to life in front of the expert panel of judges and live studio audience.
Those who got to watch the filming last year were asked to meet inside Festival Place shopping centre, before being taken by coach to the studios.
