A NEW exhibition celebrating the art and craft of embroidery is set to open at Whitchurch Silk Mill.
'Art Textiles' will open on Saturday, November 26.
It is the latest exhibition featuring embroidery pieces created by the Machine Embroidery Group members, with more than 12 artists from across the south of the UK making new machine-embroidered pieces.
Lisa Gale, visitor experience manager at the Mill, said: "We are incredibly privileged to premiere this collection of embroidery works celebrating the art of textiles in all its brilliance. Visitors will discover ingenious techniques, colour harmony and visual stories to inspire them. As each artist had approached the waterways topic differently, there is something for everyone to enjoy."
The Machine Embroidery Group was set up in 2008 by Jenny Rose, and members aim to encourage and extend the development of their art.
This time the group have taken inspiration from the theme of 'waterways', inspired from the River Test that runs around the Mill. The artists have used different materials to create different patterns and textures in their work, and visitors can explore these in the Mill's special exhibition gallery.
All the work has been crafted for this exhibition, with many available for sale, and has not been seen before and aims to inspire the next generation of weavers and embroiderers.
The exhibition is free with Mill admission and is set to run until March 26 next year.
