CHRISTMAS is set to start on a high note with the mayor’s annual Christmas Carol Service.

The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Paul Miller and the Mayoress Sandra Miller will welcome residents back to the free seasonal event on Saturday, December 10 at 6pm at St Michael's Church in Church Square.

The traditional Christmas service will feature carols and performances from the Salvation Army Band and Songsters and Four Lanes Primary School, as well as readings from students at The Costello School and representatives from the community.

There will also be the opportunity to join the Mayor and Mayoress for refreshments after the service.

Proceeds from the collection will go to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2022/23 which supports two good causes – The Pink Place incorporating the Blue Space and Tough Enough To Care.

Tickets to the event are free but are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis from Thursday, December 1.

Cllr Miller said: “The annual Christmas service is a lovely way to get into the festive spirit and this year we are very lucky to have a range of talented local organisations, schools and individuals providing music, readings and prayers.

“I am looking forward to welcoming local people of all ages to join me for this special event to share the festive music and Christmas cheer.

“The proceeds from the collection will be going to my charity appeal which will give support to two fantastic local causes during the festive season.”
