PEOPLE who get help from a homeless charity in Basingstoke recently enjoyed a Christmas lunch thanks to community-spirited volunteers.
Clients at the Camrose Centre for Homeless and Vulnerably Housed People enjoyed the occasion at Church Cottage on Thursday, December 8
The lunch, which was followed by Christmas pudding and mince pies, was kindly served by members of The Basingstoke Deane Rotary and The Loddon Rotary Clubs.
Rotary volunteers also decorated the hall, and bought in the food which was funded through a Tesco Community grant.
Christmas presents were also handed out to Camrose clients. Gifts included both practical and fun items and were made up from donations given by Camrose staff, The Chineham Rangers Girl Guides, Morrison's Basingstoke and the Rotary Clubs.
Also present at the lunch were Camrose Centre staff, volunteers and trustees, along with members of the Basingstoke and Deane's Housing Team.
Head of housing and social inclusion Kate Randall said: "Thank you for the opportunity to come and meet everyone today – you are all so inspiring!". Clients' gave rave reviews including 'what a great meal and such friendly people. Thank you!'"
Event organiser, Lindy Richardson from Rotary said: "We just like helping other people and this is one of our favourite sessions."
