A FAMILY-owned artisan sauce maker in Hampshire is celebrating after expanding its partnership with Aldi this Christmas.

Located just outside Newbury, in the village of Ball Hill, Atkins & Potts has supplied the supermarket with its award-winning seasonal chutneys as part of its Specially Selected Christmas range for the past seven years.

Old favourites include its Chipotle Chilli Jam and Fig & Bramley Apple Chutney, with the sauce maker now introducing two new chutneys to Aldi just in time for Christmas - including Red Onion and Jalapeno and Balsamic Plum Chutney.

Atkins & Potts has also bolstered its range with the launch of its pour-over sauces at Aldi, including six different flavours such as Peppercorn and Creamy Mushroom.

Husband and wife team Nicola and Robert Young launched the Atkins & Potts brand 18 years ago and are still making their delicious chutneys in small batches using traditional open pans just like you would at home.

Their partnership with Aldi has helped the business grow even during tough times, allowing it to invest in new equipment and product innovation, while also employing even more local staff to meet the huge demand.

The team of 35 employees will be moving into a brand-new factory in Spring 2023, which will increase its production capacity ten-fold and with space for innovative new kitchens to create new flavours and test new ingredients.

Nicola Young, co-founder, and managing director at Atkins & Potts, said: “Our partnership with Aldi keeps us busy all year round, with our delicious chutneys always proving incredibly popular. The growing partnership is allowing us to bring even more local staff on board. The new site will also allow us to implement energy-efficient measures like a solar roof, heat pumps, LED lighting and other initiatives to help protect our planet.

“We’re constantly innovating with exciting new flavours, textures, and recipes as we grow our core and plant-based ranges and we’ll be ramping up our production capacity when we move into our new factory in 2023. This will hopefully help us to extend our Specially Selected range at Aldi even further in the years to come.”

The new products are now available in Aldi stores across the country at £2.99 for the single jars or £3.69 for the trio giftset.

Julie Ashfield, managing director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “Atkins & Potts has been a brilliant partner of our Specially Selected range over the past seven years, and we are delighted to be extending our partnership even further this Christmas with their latest products.

“Supporting British businesses is really important to us here at Aldi and it has been so exciting to watch Atkins & Potts flourish over the years and develop into such a strong business. I look forward to seeing what’s next for them!”

Aldi has pledged to prioritise home-grown suppliers as it works towards spending an additional £3.5 billion a year with British businesses by the end of 2025.
