A FRAUDSTER conned people out of thousands of pounds by quoting and taking payment for work that he never carried out.
On September 25, 2020, Alexander Tomlinson quoted £3,075 to carry out work on a kitchen in Hook but he never carried out the job.
Earlier in the year Tomlinson committed fraud by taking an upfront fee of £4,500 for fitting a new kitchen, but he failed to complete the work. He later told the victim who lived in Winnersh, Berkshire, that he had filed for bankruptcy.
The 31-year-old, of Stanfield, Tadley, admitted to two counts of fraud by false representation when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on January 5.
Magistrates ordered Tomlinson to pay £7,575 and complete up to 20 rehabilitation days.
The court decided not to impose any punitive element to allow Tomlinson “to work as self-employed tradesman to pay compensation”.
