A PRIMARY school in Basingstoke has been given the green light to relocate an on-site nursery to enable all children to be based in the main school.
Park View Primary School in Pinkerton Road, Basingstoke, has received a seal of approval from Hampshire County Council for the £800,000 relocation project.
Park View Primary School caters to children aged between five and 11, and also provides 40 nursery places for children aged between two and five.

The majority of the school’s nursery provision is currently located in a modular building on the school playground, with only the two-year-old children accommodated within the main school building.
The project will also deliver improvements to the external areas for nursery and reception-age pupils. Work is expected to start in spring 2023 and finish in summer 2023.
Winton Community Academy in Andover has also received approval for a £5.6m project for expansion that will provide four new classrooms and create an additional 150 places.

In approving both projects, Cllr Steve Forster at his first decision day as executive member for education, said: “This is a welcome investment in both areas, helping to create additional school places at Winton Community Academy while enhancing the early years' provision at Park View Primary.
“Despite the rising costs of providing public services, prioritising good education – and the right infrastructure is a key part of this – is vital for the future prosperity and success of our children and young people, and thereby our wider county.”
Both projects are part of the County Council’s wider 2023-2026 Capital Programme for Children’s Services, which outlines a major programme of investment across both mainstream and special schools, early years settings, and children’s social care.
