AN AUTHOR from Tadley has made his dream come true by publishing his first thriller novel - which was 10 years in the making.

After being made redundant following years of working in the manufacturing industry, Mark Cupit, 59, decided to make his dream a reality by writing onto paper the idea he had been thinking about for the past 10 years.

Leaving the family home in Tadley, which has been home for over 30 years.  Mark went to Spain for six months to concentrate on the project, the outcome was his first novel, The Sixth Dimension.

Despite a regular urge to travel and see the world, Mark’s home has always been in Hampshire, so this is where he based his novel, inventing fictional villages which were sometimes based on real places.

The Sixth Dimension is set in modern times, telling the story of four people - Martyn, Trish, David and Sue.

The narrator, Martyn, walks the reader through the tale as the four experiment with a Ouija board - leading to many unexpected events, which Mark wanted to make people reading his novel question, "could this really happen in my home?"

Mark said: "It feels exciting to know that I have managed to fulfil a dream. To be honest, I should have tried harder when I was young, I always liked to write but never felt good enough to try. I feel that I have finally had the courage to put my thoughts down on paper.

"I’m excited to think that others will pick it up, hopefully some will read it and consider what the implications of my story mean to them because the Ouija board can be dangerous.

"I hope others will find it a good read but if they don’t then at least I have tried and failed which is better than having the idea for so long and not trying to write it."
