A DRIVER has escaped disqualification after he was caught speeding on the M3 southbound at Basingstoke.
Joseph Duffy was spotted behind the wheel of an Audi RS6 on September 11, 2021, driving at 92mph – the speed limit is 70mph.
During a hearing at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on January 9, the 35-year-old pleaded guilty to speeding.
Magistrates chose not to disqualify Duffy, of Kingston, due to the impact it would have on business and on taking his daughter and father to hospital appointments.
He was instead hit with four points on his licence and fined £461. He must also pay £110 court costs and a £46 victim surcharge.
MAGISTRATES have fined a driver after he was caught speeding in Hook in 2021.
Hammaad Shahid Mahmood was spotted on the B3272 Reading Road at Eversley Cross on November 15, 2021, travelling at 68mph – the speed limit is 30mph.
Mahmood, of Camberley, admitted the offence when he appeared at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on January 9.
He was fined £415 and hit with six points on his licence. He must also pay £110 court costs and a £42 victim surcharge.
A MAN who did not follow the indication given by solid white line markings on a Basingstoke road has been given points on his licence.
Darren Hibberd, of Hinckley, was driving a Mercedes Sprinter on the A339 on April 26, last year, when he committed the offence.
Such white lines must not be crossed by drivers as it would be dangerous to do so due to the nature of the road.
Magistrates in Aldershot on January 9 endorsed the 32-year-old’s licence with three points and fined him £40.
He must also pay £50 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
A MAN has been handed points for speeding in Basingstoke.
Anthony Redman, of Reading, drove a Ford Transit in Chineham, while driving above the 50mph limit.
The 44-year-old appeared at Aldershot Magistrates' court for a hearing and pleaded guilty to the offence.
Magistrates fined Redman £40 and handed him three penalty points.
On top of this Magistrates also ordered the man to pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge fee of £34.
A MAN who assaulted emergency workers has been put behind bars.
Darren Graham of, Romsey Road in Whitchurch, assaulted paramedic Christopher Murphy and John Donne in July 2021.
On the same date Graham without lawful excuse damaged a window of a property in Basingstoke.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, magistrates sent the 51-year-old to prison for three weeks and ordered him to pay costs of £100.
