A FAMILY-run store selling vintage action figures, toys, retro games and thousands of back issues of comics has opened in a Basingstoke shopping centre.

Kushti Comics, an independent business, has opened its first shop in Festival Place.

Owner Daniel Gray has been a collector for more than 20 years and was excited to open the doors to his new venture.

“It was an amazing opening day,” he said, adding: “We have had an absolutely awesome response and look forward to seeing more customers in the coming weeks, when we will have new comic releases, Pokemon, and some amazing vintage retro toys.”

He thanked everyone who has visited the new shop, and added: “We’d love more people to pop in and have a chat as we love hearing about their collections.”

Kushti Comics becomes part of the growing independent offering at Festival Place, which includes zero waste shop Your Home Your World, Nigerian restaurant Afrizi, the family-run Festival Street Kitchen and All Our Own Crafts, which offers handmade crafts from creators across Basingstoke and Deane.

Festival Place centre director said the opening of Kushti Comics is part of the shopping centre’s ongoing drive to support local businesses.

He added: “As a central part of our vibrant local community, it is important to us to support local businesses wherever we can, so we are delighted to welcome another fantastic local independent trader to Festival Place.

“Kushti Comics brings a new dimension to our already diverse range of shops that offer so many different things all under one roof."

The shop can be found opposite Savers and Sports Direct.
