A DEVELOPER has been granted planning permission to build 110 new homes in Basingstoke.
Miller Homes Southern got the green light for their reserved matters application for the major development at land to the east of Station Road in Oakley.
The developer said the 9.72-hectare site will deliver a selection of “energy efficient” one to five-bedroom homes, including 44 affordable homes.
Miller Homes and Wates Developments submitted the reserved matters application after winning an appeal against the council’s decision to reject its original plan.
The proposal was initially rejected by the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in 2020 as the council called it “an opportunistic land grab".

The initial plan also received 318 letters of objection from residents.
Wates, alongside Bewley Homes, has completed the construction of a 48-house Canterbury Gardens on the adjacent land.
The new development has been named Oakley Grange by Miller Homes.
It will have 5,280sqm of green space including kickabout and informal play space.
Miller Homes said the scale of the proposed development is “in-keeping with the local area”, which is characterised by a mix of semi-detached and detached single and two-storey houses with garages and front gardens.
Single-storey housing is proposed on the western boundary, to the south of the access road, to minimise the impact on the landscape and views, including the Grade II Listed St Leonard’s Church.

There is also some additional single-storey housing proposed at the south-eastern corner of the site, the area of built development closest to the Conservation Area.
As part of the Section 106 (S106) agreement Miller Homes will make a £151,000 contribution to enhance the local infrastructure including traffic, environmental and pedestrian enhancements.
As well as this, a contribution of around £2m will be made as part of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), the developer said.
Katrina Crawford, sales and marketing director at Miller Homes Southern, said: “We are really pleased to have been given the go ahead for planning for this exciting new neighbourhood. Oakley Grange has much to offer potential residents and we are excited to see the development take shape over the coming months.
“As well as building beautiful homes, we are committed to increasing employment opportunities for people in the local area and we are pleased to announce that this development will create a number of new jobs as well as apprenticeship opportunities.”
