REPAIR works have been launched for a footway and a subway in Basingstoke as part of Hampshire County Council’s ‘Operation Resilience’.
The works for the footway between Market Place and New Road on London Street will begin on Tuesday, February 14, and are expected to take up to seven weeks to complete.
The council said the repairs will be undertaken on short sections at a time, and the area of the footpath being worked on will be closed until completed.
The work for a subway between the One Stop store in Sherbourne Road and Oakridge Playing Field car park has also begun on Monday, February 13.
This is expected to last for up to five days, ending on Friday, February 17.

Sections of the footway will be closed to pedestrians from approximately 7.30am to 6pm each day.
Residents are being asked to ensure that no vehicles are parked on the road on the days of the works.
Any vehicles left parked on the road that prevents the work from taking place, face the risk of being removed.
The council said, while every effort is made to adhere to the published programme dates, there may be times when it is necessary to postpone work at very short notice, like in the case of poor forecast weather.
It added: “We will always endeavour to provide up to date information, but sometimes these last-minute decisions can be difficult to relay to residents and road users in a timely manner.
“The dates will be updated however, on the yellow sign boards located at each end of the site so the travelling public and local residents are aware.”

The council said its long-term strategy is to make Hampshire's roads more resilient to the effect of extreme weather and heavy traffic.
Under the ‘Operation Resilience’ programme, the council’s large planned maintenance programme of work is carried out each year.
