Basingstoke and Mid Hants athletes Stefan O’Loughnane and Oskar Harvey Nash won gold and bronze respectively at the U20 championships held at the Lee Valley indoor athletics stadium in London on February 5.
Both athletes won their heats and then went on to pick up gold and bronze respectively in the finals. They share the same coach in Dave Ragan as the Basingstoke Commonwealth Games medallist Ben Pattison.
Meanwhile, BMHAC junior middle distance and cross country award winner in 2022 Daisy Allford has become the U15 800m bronze medallist at the English Athletics indoor championships in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport.
The Sherfield School student met the qualifying entry time of 2:24m with a PB of 2:23.21 at the Southern indoor individual championships at Lee Valley. She also broke BMHAC club record that had stood for eight years.
Further cementing her credentials, she came second in the London Indoor games with another PB of 2.21, setting her up well for the trip to Sheffield.
In the final, she ran an excellent race against a high-quality field and smashed her own 800m record to achieve a time of 2.17.65.
Last weekend saw Basingstoke host the latest round of the Hampshire League Cross Country at Popham Airfield.
U13 girls third placed team has club members Alejandra Thomas, Celeste Vickers, Mia Spiers and Abigail Spencer.
U15 girls team has Imogen Edwards and Matilda Gibson.
U17 girls first placed team has Emily Marshall, Sophie Yates and Charlotte Vickers as points scorers with Charlotte Coleman representing the club too.
U20 women were represented by Megan Hope and Elisa Hill.
U13 boys fifth placed team has Archie Burniston, William Brooks, Elliott Trepess and Jake Juden.
U15 boys fourth placed team has Orrin Wheeler, Noah O’Neill, George Sharp and George Hedderly.
U17 boys third placed team has Nicholas Thomas, Jack Hedderly, Samuel Kemp and Oscar Bailey. Charlie Coveney also runs in this category.
Senior women third team has Charlotte Ragan, Rebecca Sleap, Rebecca Pearson and Cat Coveney.
Senior men second placed team has club runners being Robert Wood, Cameron Coveney, Stephen Reid, Ben White, Luke Williams , Alex Bigg, Boyd Jno-Lewis, Michael Hickey and Terry Wegg.
