A PRIVATE hospital in Basingstoke has been given a top rating for food hygiene after it was told to improve by inspectors.
The Hampshire Clinic, in Basing Road, Old Basing, was inspected by food safety officers from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on February 10.
The hospital has now been graded as five out of five – four months after it was rated as three.
Inspectors visited Medirest at the clinic and looked at five different areas of food hygiene - handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, and how food safety is managed.
Inspectors praised the private hospital for the action it had taken following the visit last year.

Commenting on the improved rating, executive director of Hampshire Clinic Heather Dob, said: “We are delighted to receive our new five-star hygiene rating from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The team at Hampshire Clinic have worked tirelessly to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards possible. The improved rating is a reflection of the hard work and commitment by everybody across the hospital.”
The private hospital joined forces with Circle Health Group in January 2020 when it benefited from a major £250m national investment programme in facilities, technology and people.
