COMMUTERS using the town’s railway station can enjoy a new exhibition of artwork from students at a Basingstoke school.
Pupils from Dove House School Academy have contributed their work to brighten up the train station.
Year eight pupils created an explosion of colour in their work on colour theory and pattern with animal-themed work, while year nine pupils created an architectural composition based on famous buildings and interesting architecture. They also drew from natural forms, researching artists like Georgia O’Keeffe.
Year 11 pupils were inspired by the theme ‘street photography’ and they visited Basingstoke and London to capture a range of different urban subjects. They explored a variety of skills and processes including how to use the settings on a digital SLR camera and how to edit photographs using Photoshop.

Earlier in February, they came to see their work on display at the station, with their teacher Issy Taylor.
Ms Taylor said: “I think it looks lovely and gives the students pride in their work. Their work takes on a new lease of life when it is displayed and it is nice to be able to share our work with the wider community.”
One student Tilk said: “I feel honoured to have my work on display,” while another pupil Aston said: “I’m proud to have my work on display and I like everyone to see what I’ve done.”
Art@The Station is supported by the Arts Society Basingstoke and offers a platform for young artists to exhibit their work.
