THE endoscopy department at a private hospital in Basingstoke has passed accreditation renewal by a national independent regulatory body.

The Hampshire Clinic, in Basing Road, passed its accreditation renewal by the Joint Advisory Group (JAG), the national body which assesses all endoscopy suites to make sure they can be trusted, focused, sustainable, and offer patients the very best clinical outcomes.

Director of clinical services at the Hampshire Clinic, Sarah Brown said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded JAG reaccreditation after months of hard work and dedication from our endoscopy team as this award is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve due to the standards being raised.

"The purpose-built endoscopy unit works well as a specialist unit, ensuring our patients receive the excellent care they require.”

Endoscopy is a procedure whereby a consultant specialist uses an endoscope with a small camera chip inside a long flexible tube to see inside the body or to provide treatment. Common examples are inspecting inside the bowel, bladder, or stomach.

This enables the specialist to help diagnose any health complaints or offer therapeutic work such as removing small growths and repairing bleeding ulcers.

Achieving JAG accreditation required Sarah and the team to evidence the highest levels of patient safety at every step.

This includes sourcing regulatory documentation and demonstrating procedures for decontamination equipment, collecting doctors’ performance data, patient satisfaction surveys, and other assurances across each step of the patient pathway.

Executive of The Hampshire Clinic Heather Dobb said: "The reaccreditation symbolises that skill and dedication in the field of endoscopy. The team at Hampshire Clinic works tirelessly to ensure they meet the requirements to obtain this award, they are all passionate about the patients and the community they serve.”
