A BRIDAL shop near Basingstoke recreated a well-known scene from Friends when it hosted a fundraising event with a difference for women.

Boo Bridal Boutique in Hartley Wintney invited groups of female friends to come and try on wedding dresses together who have no plans to get married, all in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

The ‘Galentine’s’ event was the idea of Boo Bridal’s owner Emma Watling, who said the boutique has been inundated with requests from women wanting to try on wedding dresses who aren’t engaged.

Emma's mother-in-law received end-of-life care at the hospice, and Emma wanted to find a way to donate to the charity.

The bridal shop owner and staff donated their time and salaries for the day to the cause.

The charity event saw more than 70 women enjoy trying on the boutique’s dresses helping raise more than £1,000 for St Michael’s Hospice.

The shop’s stylist worked solidly for 12 hours helping women of all ages in and out of the gowns.

A sofa was set up at the shop to recreate the well-known moment from American sitcom Friends, when characters Phoebe, Rachel and Monica put on wedding dresses in their apartment to cheer themselves up.

Louise Gough, community engagement fundraiser at St. Michael’s Hospice, said: “Galentines is such an amazing and creative idea for a fundraiser, it’s given people the opportunity to do something they might never get the chance to do and make magical memories together while supporting St. Michael’s Hospice. We can’t thank Boo Bridal and the gals from Galentines enough for all their support.”
