WESSEX Cancer Trust has received a £10,000 donation from Basingstoke Crematorium, thanks to its metal recycling scheme.
The Crematorium and Memorial Group (CMG), operators of Basingstoke Crematorium and part of Dignity plc, was able to make the donation to Wessex Cancer Trust due to the crematorium participating in a nationwide metal recycling scheme, administered by the Association of Private Crematoria and Cemeteries.

The scheme sees metals that have been recovered from the deceased during the cremation process recycled, with the express consent of bereaved families. Materials can include metal hips and joints, and all profits are donated to charity.
Jacqueline Bridges, business leader at Basingstoke Crematorium, said: “We are delighted to be able to support a local charity, Wessex Cancer Trust.
“Every year around 23,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the region. We hope that our donation will go a little way in helping Wessex Cancer Trust to continue with their amazing work supporting people who have been affected by cancer and their families."
