AN ACCOUNTANCY practice has opened its first office in Basingstoke - moving into Basing View and taking advantage of a recently departed firm's former team.
Shaw Gibbs has announced the opening of its new Basingstoke office made up of former RSM employees.
The team will be led by corporate tax partner Tim Smith, alongside personal tax partner Jo Gibbons.
They will be based at Belverdere House in Basing View and act for a client-base of entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals.

Tim said: “I have spent many years in the Hampshire market, most recently as managing partner of the RSM Basingstoke office where, as a firm, we operated for over 20 years.
"We decided to join Shaw Gibbs because we share the same culture, with the understanding of the importance of relationships and the focus on delivering high-quality service and advice.
“I am pleased to have been able to find a practice that could see the potential in the team continuing to service clients locally.”
RSM, which was based at Springpark House, in Basing View since 2002, decided to close its Basingstoke office earlier this year to “consolidate its national office network”.
The audit, tax and consulting firm, which has more than 57,000 employees in offices across the world, said all 60 employees at the Basingstoke office have relocated.
Shaw Gibbs received private equity funding in November 2022 and has been actively seeking progressive firms that operate in geographical markets with economic opportunities.
Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Cllr Simon Minas-Bound said: “I am delighted that Tim, Jo and the team have decided to continue to operate in Basing View and have found a supportive partnership with Shaw Gibbs to facilitate this.
“Basingstoke has been ranked as the number one place in the UK for the digital economy and is also recognised as an excellent place for inward investment.
"These factors, alongside the transportation links and access to a skilled workforce mean that financial and professional services organisations prosper here.”

Destination Basingstoke’s partnerships manager Mark Jones said: “We are proud of our borough and actively promote Basingstoke and Deane as a great place to do business.
"Tim, Jo and their team have been very active in the local business community for many years and have always been very supportive.
"We are delighted that they are committed to Basingstoke and have set up their new office on Basing View. We wish them every success and look forward to continuing to work with them.”
Joining the team with Tim and Jo are associate director Matthew Brown, manager Karen Bushnell, assistant manager Andrea Chiossone, associate Sophie Dodridge, senior admin assistant Elyse Dight, associate director Richard Formosa, senior admin assistant Bev Harfield, and assistant manager Jenni York.
The new office in Basingstoke is the fourth Shaw Gibbs office, with others located in Oxford, London and Farnham.
