A YOUNG dancer from South Ham has been selected to be part of the English Youth Ballet's (EYB) production of Swan Lake.
Elizabeth Dine was chosen in January after taking part in a highly competitive audition stage at The Kings Theatre, in Portsmouth.
Dine, who attends St Anne’s RC Primary School will perform the role of Courtier.
She is currently experiencing the life of a professional dancer in rehearsals and is super excited, as she will perform alongside international professional dancers at The Kings Theatre from Friday, April 28 to April 29.

EYB Principal, Lyndsey Fraser will be starring as Odile in the production, before joining EYB she danced with the Vienna Festival Ballet.
She said: “I wish I had danced with EYB when I was young. The dancers learn so much about performance skills and the artistry of ballet. I love working as a principal dancer with EYB because I get to dance fantastic roles and teach and watch the young dancers progress. The sets and costumes in the production are superb and the whole experience is one the young dancers (and the audiences) will never forget!”
There will be three performances of EYB’s electrifying Swan Lake. The lavish production will star six international principal dancers and showcase the talents of 98 young dancers.
EYB’s emotionally charged production is set in 1895 Imperial Russia and tells of love, rivalry, greed and murder. The action takes place in the Mariinsky Theatre and the sumptuous Royal Palace of the Tsar. Two unlikely lovers meet Odette, a dancer with the Mariinsky Ballet and Prince Sergei, son to the Tsar.

The Tsar must ensure that Prince Sergei does not marry beneath his station. Equally, the tyrannical Baron Von Rothbart would do anything to secure royal patronage for his ballet company. He would even manipulate his own daughter, Odile, to compete for the affection of the Prince.
EYB previously won The Stage Award for special achievement in regional theatre and the opportunity to watch EYB is sure to provide audiences with a unique experience.
