THE organisers of a family festival that was cancelled because of ‘public safety’ concerns have reassured ticket holders that all refunds have been issued.

As previously reported, Kids Party in the Park was meant to be held in Popley, Basingstoke on April 12 and was set to include performances, fairground rides and appearances from kid’s television characters.

Included in the line-up was Little Mix tribute act Little Chix and dance music artist Andy Whitby.

Ticket holders were left disappointed when the organisers announced on April 4 that the event was cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, citing problems with the condition of the ground.

However, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said the event did not go ahead because the organisers failed to get the relevant documentation in place for an event licence, resulting in the application being refused on the grounds of ‘public safety’.

Many people have since been in touch to say they are still awaiting a refund, including ticket holders for another Kids Party in the Park event cancelled in Hove, meant to take place on April 5.

Those who bought tickets for the Hove event were also told it had been cancelled because of ‘ground conditions’.

The organisers have now told the Gazette that “all refunds were issued on the date stated our end”.

Ticket holders have been advised that refunds may take up to 30 days.

A message posted on Kids Party in the Park Facebook page said: "We are aware that some of you are awaiting your refunds to reach you.

"We confirm that all refunds were issued on the date of cancellation, processing times may vary dependant on payment type used and also the ticket site in which you purchased. As stated in terms and conditions prior to purchasing.

"We have been contacted by ticket site in regards to a few payments where ticket holders have since changed banking details, if this includes you please check your emails to update your details.

"We recognise that times are currently hard and we appreciate your patience and thank you for your continued support."

A spokesperson for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said: "The event organiser failed to get the relevant documentation in place for their event licence. This resulted in their application being refused on the grounds of public safety and the organisers having to cancel their event.

"As a council, we would expect the event organiser to refund those people who have purchased tickets swiftly and would not consider any future event bookings on our land from the organiser if this does not happen."
