A BASINGSTOKE school’s charity club is celebrating after raising £20,000 for charities.

The Aldworth School Charity Club recently held a ‘Celebration Tea’ to mark the raising the huge amount for good causes.

The event was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke, local charity partners, Aldworth staff, and past and present charity club members.

Since 2017, the Charity Club has supported a wide range of UK-based and local charities, including Young Minds, Basingstoke NeighbourCare, and the Camrose Centre.

In addition to holding numerous volunteering sessions within local settings, fundraising initiatives have included non-uniform days, bake sales, and sponsored activities in school, as well as a twice-yearly Foodbank Donation Day in aid of Basingstoke Foodbank.

Nick Lewis, the Charity Club coordinator, expressed his pride in the past and present students for raising this significant sum of money for charities and good causes.

He said: "We at Charity Club are delighted to have been able to support so many people across the UK and locally as a result of our fundraising activities since 2017.

“It's been hard work, but we have had a lot of fun in the process, and everyone within the Aldworth community has been fantastic with their support. This milestone figure shows what a kind and caring school Aldworth is and what an asset the school is for the town and its people."

Looking forward, the club plans to continue fundraising and support for charities, aiming to raise even more money for those in need.
