TO mark the UK hosting the Eurovision Song Contest the Silk Milk in Whitchurch is hosting a Eurovision-inspired day.

Eurovision comes to Whitchurch Silk Mill on Saturday, May 13, from 10.30am to 4pm with their ‘Kalush – Eurovision fun day’.

This family-friendly Eurovision-inspired day has free entry and will be fun for everyone.

Residents are encouraged to come along in their best Eurovision dress-up for a chance at winning the ‘best dressed’ competition.

The Mill’s ‘Kalush’ celebration silk, a collection of bright and colourful scarves featuring a tribute to the UK’s and Ukraine’s national flag colours, will be launched at the event.

There will be a chance to learn about weaving from European countries in our pop-up ‘Weaving of the World’ exhibition. Residents can even have a go at weaving Saori loom too and 15 per cent of all Kalush silk sales will be donated directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

There will be music and games, including an open mic from 11.30am to 1.30pm for anyone wanting to showcase their singing talents.

Jess Bone, operations manager, said: “We are holding a day full of family-friendly fun for minimal cost, making it accessible to everyone. There will be a chance for our team of young, highly skilled weavers to showcase their heritage skills. So as well as a range of activities, there will be the launch of Kalush, our own silk woven to mark the event. This is an event focused on community and inclusivity, we thank National Lottery Community Fund for supporting us, and we look forward to seeing our visitors enjoy themselves.”
