A BABY donkey stolen from her mother at a farm near Basingstoke was spotted in the boot of a car on the day she went missing, it has been reported.

Baby Moon, who is just two-months-old, was taken from her mother Astra from Miller’s Ark in Hook on May 15.

Elizabeth Miller, who owns Miller’s Ark, has appealed to the public for help finding Moon, and said she is “completely devastated and incredibly concerned” for the foal, who needs to be with her mother.

Now, Elizabeth has confirmed that a “credible sighting” of Moon was reported on the day she was stolen, between 3pm and 3.15pm.

A member of the public got in touch with Miller’s Ark to say they had seen a “small ginger coloured donkey in the boot area of a dark blue car”.

The sighting was on the A3016 Upper Hale Road traffic lights, at the junction with A325 Farnborough Road, and then towards the Six Bells Roundabout in Farnham, Surrey.

The car is described as a dark blue hatchback or small estate-style car.

Posting about the sighting on social media, Miller’s Ark said: “There was a boy, possibly 10 to 14 years old sitting behind the drivers’ seat leaning back over to the boot area stroking and talking to the donkey.”

Elizabeth said that if Moon was in the car, she would have probably travelled on the A30 to the A287 past Odiham before continuing on the A287 Farnham Road.

At the top of Folly Hill in Farnham, she would have continued on the A3016 Upper Hale Road, through Upper Hale and down to the traffic lights with the A325, then onwards towards The Six Bells Roundabout.

She is now appealing to anyone in the area at this time to help, and said: “A plea for anyone who may have been driving in the area at this relevant time and date, business and residents to check any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage which may extend out onto the road.”

Miller’s Ark said the sighting was reported to Hampshire Constabulary, which is investigating the donkey’s disappearance.

Elizabeth said the farm has been "really touched by all the support shown to us" since Moon was stolen.

This includes the offer by a private donor of £10,000 for Moon's safe return, and a Go Fund Me launched to to raise funds for surveillance cameras to prevent any other animals from being taken.

Elizabeth said: "We are so grateful for your kindness and support. As is our wonderful Astra who is missing her foal Moon."
