RESIDENTS across Basingstoke and Deane can find out more about low cost home ownership opportunities at a free council-run event in June.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will host a Low Cost Home Ownership event at the Civic Offices in London Road, Basingstoke between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday, June 15.

Aspiring local homeowners will be able to drop in to get advice about various schemes including the council’s Own Home Loan scheme, First Homes, shared ownership schemes and the council’s home ownership register.

There will also be representatives from housing associations, independent financial advisors and building societies on hand to answer questions.

Cabinet member for residents’ services and housing Cllr Laura James said: “We want people to have access to a wide variety of opportunities for an affordable home, including being aware of their options for low cost home ownership. The event at the council on Thursday 15 June will give people the chance to find out information on the low cost home ownership options available to them and to meet with independent financial advisors and building societies.”
