HOOK and Newnham B won their Cyril Thompson Trophy first-round clash with Oakley A by losing fewer wickets.
Oakley batted first scoring 135-6 thanks to Will Cheyney (44), Josh Carpenter (23) and Dan Sumner (23 not out), while John Clarke took 4-25.
Hook in reply reached 135-5 as Tom May top scored with 47 and Kevin Light made 42. Alex Brundle 2-40 was the top Oakley bowler.

In another first-round game, Yateley came out on top with a 63-run victory over Basingstoke Hockey.
Yateley scored 145-5 as D Page took 2-25 and in reply, Basingstoke Hockey scored 82-9 with J Weir their top scorer with 47.
Next week’s games will see Old Basing take on Hartley Wintney (Monday, June 5) in the Guy Jewell Cup and then the following evening in the Cyril Thompson Trophy, Chawton face Ramsdell.
Both games are at May’s Bounty starting at 6pm and admission is free.
