BASINGSTOKE residents, businesses, commuters, and visitors are being invited to share their views on Hampshire County Council's plans to create the first phase of a new cycle route along the A30.

The initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable transportation and enhancing cycling infrastructure in the area.

The proposed cycle route's initial phase will span between the Brighton Hill and Winchester Road roundabouts.

This segment marks the beginning of a long-term plan to develop a continuous cycle route along the A30, extending from Basingstoke Town Centre to Dummer.

The plan aligns with the Basingstoke Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, which identifies this particular route as a primary cycling path.

To gather feedback and opinions, the county council has launched an online survey, giving respondents the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and ideas.

The survey will remain open until July 2.

Interested individuals can find the necessary documents on the council's website.

Anyone without access to the internet, can request a paper copy of the information and survey by calling 0300 555 1388.

In addition to the online survey, the county council is also arranging live question-and-answer events to engage directly with the community.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Cllr Rob Humby said: “We would be grateful if as many people as possible would take the time to consider the proposal and complete the survey. New developments along the A30 have increased the volume of journeys on the local network. Ensuring people can undertake journeys without relying on a car will increase travel choice for new and existing communities.

"We’ve identified this first section as a priority as it focuses on proposals for making it easier and safer to cross the Ringway to reach the town centre by bicycle and unlock the route’s full potential and benefits.”
