A MEDICAL practice in Basingstoke has urged people to come forward with information following an attempted burglary. 

Residents reported a police presence at Shakespeare Road Medical Practice, in Popley Way, on Monday, June 5. After contacting Hampshire Constabulary, the Gazette was told that an attempted burglary took place.

It is believed that the incident happened overnight from June 3 to June 4. Police had said that while entry to the building was gained, nothing had been reported as stolen, with enquiries into the incident ongoing.

A spokesperson for Shakespeare Medical Practice said: “We can confirm that an attempted burglary took place overnight on Saturday, June 3. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns resulting from the damage, the practice was closed to patients on Monday 5 June.

"We are sorry for the disruption this caused and were pleased to re-opened to our patients on Tuesday 6 June. We are supporting the police with their ongoing enquiries and would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
