HOMES could be built on green space in Overton, but concerns have been raised by residents.
Developers are proposing to build 17 homes on land to the west of Dellands Lane. New open spaces will be incorporated into the development process, as well as rerouting a section of Dellands Lane.
Residents have expressed their disappointment at plans to build on the greenfield land between Overton and Southington, with a number of residents pointing out that there is a massive brownfield site in Overton that is no longer in use - Overton Mill.

Overton Mill has been vacant since Portals announced it would be winding down its operation in the village in 2022.
Local resident, Jeff Hewitt, said: "Why on earth would Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council allow another greenfield site to be built in the space between Overton and Southington while we have an unused brownfield site in the village in the form of Portals Mill?"
Chair of Overton Parish Council, Anne Phillips, said: "The parish council is reviewing its neighbourhood plan at the moment. In the new plan, we will be allocating the old Portals Mill site for future development. We are totally against the development of houses on green field sites.

"This was backed up by some 84 per cent of residents who voted for 'brownfield development only' when they attended one of our consultation events for the neighbourhood plan on May 2.
"Overton people do not want development on green fields, especially as we now have a brownfield site at the mill that will be available."
The plans have been outlined on a website, dellandslane.co.uk, and in leaflets to residents. The website says: "The layout is landscape-led and responds to the existing features on and in the vicinity off the site. The proposed housing mix has been carefully considered to ensure that it meets local housing needs. A number of the proposed housing units will be provided as Affordable Housing (with the final figure to be agreed with the Local Planning Authority)."
