A BASINGSTOKE man has been jailed for assaulting a woman in Beggarwood and for cultivating cannabis.

James Mead, of Oceana Crescent, Beggarwood, was found to be cultivating genus cannabis in Basingstoke on May 5. On the same day he also assaulted a woman. 

The 35-year-old admitted to the offences during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Mead was jailed for six weeks and must pay £84 court costs and a £154 victim surcharge.

A restraining order was also imposed, preventing him from contacting the attack victim.

MAGISTRATES have endorsed a Hartley Wintney man’s driving licence with six points.

Tyler Few, of Dunnett Close, failed to give information relating to the identity of the driver of an Audi A3, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on February 3, 2022, in Whitchurch.

The 22-year-old was found guilty of the offence during a hearing at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court.

Few was also fined £242, along with being told to pay £100 court costs and a victim surcharge of £97.

A DRIVER who failed to comply with the solid white line road markings on a Hampshire road has been hit with points on his licence.

Carl Brown, of Wheeler Way, Sherborne St John, failed to comply with the markings while driving a Mercedes in West Meon on September 26, 2022.

Brown, 36, pleaded guilty to the offence and it was dealt with at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court.

His driving licence was endorsed with three points and he was fined £40. Brown was also told to pay court costs of £110 and a £16 victim surcharge.

A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined for failing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

Frank Cronin, of May Place, was in police detention and was due to undergo a drug test but failed without good cause to provide a non-intimate sample for the purpose of ascertaining whether he had drugs in his body.

Cronin, 31, pleaded guilty to being a detainee and failing/refusing to provide a sample for Class 'A' drug test.

Magistrates in Basingstoke fined Cronin £140, and told him to pay court costs of £85.

A 52-YEAR-old man harassed a woman by making repeated text and phone calls to her.

Colin Fuller, of Prescelly Close, Buckskin, harassed his victim between May 1, 2020, and October 10, 2022.

Fuller pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He must complete up to 30 days of rehabilitation and was fined £120. Fuller was also told to pay a £114 victim surcharge and a £45 court costs.

A restraining order was also imposed, preventing Fuller from contacting his victim.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a Basingstoke man for driving while disqualified.

Michael Gore, of Abbey Road, drove a Vauxhall Corsa on the A339 approaching Black Dam Roundabout while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence. He also had no insurance.

The 24-year-old committed the offences on June 7 and was dealt with at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Gore was jailed for 26 weeks, following the activation of a 22-week sentence imposed by Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.

He was also disqualified from driving for 24 months.

A DRIVER who was caught behind the wheel while over the drug drive limit on the M3 has been disqualified.

David Nolan was stopped on the M3 southbound between junction 6 and 7 driving a Volkswagen Polo on October 27, 2022.

Nolan was found to have not less than 3.0ug/L of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood – the legal limit is two. He also had not less than 290ug/L of Benzoylecgonine – the legal limit is 50.

The 33-year-old changed his pleas to guilty during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Nolan, of Barnet, was banned from driving for three years and fined £393. He must also pay a £157 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

A further charge of driving without valid insurance was dismissed.
