A DEVELOPER showcased its plans to build 260 new homes in Tadley at a public exhibition for residents.
In an event held at Hurst Leisure Centre, Bewley Homes revealed its plans for the development on Skates Lane in Tadley, comprising of one, two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
The developer is seeking an allocation for land in the draft local plan and is preparing an outline planning permission for 260 homes that would include 40 per cent affordable housing.
The proposed site is located to the south of Tadley. It would provide new connections to the existing footpath network.

The developer is hoping it will also help to address Basingstoke and Deane’s housing needs in the short term.
“The development would open up private land for use by all Tadley residents, supply homes catering to the needs of first-time buyers and young families. It will also provide significant areas of open space and natural play, along with new walking and cycling routes,” a Bewley Homes spokesperson said.
Bewley Homes senior land manager Matt Roberts said: “Our public exhibition attracted considerable interest from locals as we expected, and we received some positive feedback for our plans to build a high-quality development. We are engaging with planning officers at Basingstoke and Deane to ensure we meet all their requirements and are working on our scheme to be fully planning policy compliant.

“Our scheme for Skates Lane will help Basingstoke and Deane meet its housing shortfall, as well as provide much needed affordable housing for local people who want to stay in the area. If our application is granted, we will be partnering with a local housing association to deliver that element of our S106 obligations.
“Tadley hasn’t seen much development in recent years, so we understand some of the opposition to new homes, but we are a local housebuilder who has been building in the Basingstoke region for over 30 years.
"Our reputation is vitally important and as our headquarters are based in Tadley, this would be a flagship development and a lasting legacy for the company.”
