A TEENAGER and a man have been arrested after a suspected hand grenade was found in Basingstoke.
The incident happened on Tuesday, June 27, when officers conducted a proactive vehicle stop on Western Way at around 12pm.
On searching the vehicle, a silver Renault, a possible hand grenade was located.
As a result, a road closure was put in place between St Andrews Road and Princes’ Crescent.
A bomb disposal squad was called to attend and assess its viability.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "A 44-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, driving under the influence of a drug, and possession of an offensive weapon.
"A 17-year-old boy from Epsom has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon."
Both remain in custody at this time.
The Gazette understands the road is now open but police are likely to remain at the scene.
