A MAN from Oakley who attempted to engage in sexual communication with a child has been given a community order.

Andrzej Cygan, of Elm Tree Road, Oakley, pleaded guilty to the offence on June 8 after he tried to encourage a 13-year-old girl to perform a sexual act on him ‘for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification’.

The offence took place in Oakley between June 2021 and July 2021.

The 40-year-old was given a two-year community order at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 20, which includes rehabilitation activity and 250 hours of unpaid work.

Cygan was also given a sexual harm prevention order which will run until June 2028 preventing him from owning, using, accessing or possessing any device capable of accessing the internet or storing images unless it can retain and display the history of internet use and image storage.

The defendant will be expected to make the device available for inspection on request by a police officer.

He is also not allowed any unsupervised contact or communication with any child under the age of 16, this includes being unable to undertake any employment which is likely to bring him into contact with children, including home schooling, teaching, mentoring and advising.

Cygan was asked to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 and a surcharge of £114.
