AN EMAIL offering to sell the personal details of people attending a beer festival featuring craft ales and lagers from breweries in Basingstoke and Hook is thought to be a scam.
The Gazette was one of those sent an email from Esther Raleigh who claimed to be the event coordinator for Guildford Beer Festival, being held on July 21 and 22 in the Surrey town.

It asked about our interest in acquiring the visitor/attendee list of 4,265 people for Guildford Beer Festival including names, emails and phone numbers, along with ‘additional details’ at a ‘discounted cost’.
The festival, in its 13th year, takes place outdoors in marquees at Guildford Cricket Club offering a wide range of local real ales and craft beers, gins and spirits, and ciders and wines, including a selection from Longdog Brewery in Basingstoke and Andwell Brewing Company in Hook.
Charley Teal, one of the organisers of the festival, said they had been made aware of the email, adding: “[We] believe it to be a scam as there is no one of such name in our team.”
