It's not every day you come across an allotment full of all different kinds of chillies in the Basingstoke countryside, but that's exactly what Steve Gibbs from Bramley is growing.

Steve, a former engineer of 29 years, got an allotment in Bramley for him and his wife to garden in 2018, and began growing chillies and soon became an aficionado.

Steve started giving some of the chillies away to friends and locals, and as popularity increased, officially opened his business, Plot 34A, in May 2019.

Steve uses the chillies he grows, alongside other sourced chillies, to make a range of chilli sauces, peanut butters, BBQ ribs, and salts and garlics.

The grower began attending markets in towns across the local area and has progressed to a number of farmers' markets and food festivals.

Steve said that growing the chillies is his passion.

He continued: "I really enjoy it. The festivals and markets are a lot of fun and you meet some absolutely lovely people who come up and try the range, and they say some really nice things and hopefully buy some bits to take away with them and enjoy.

"It's a good crowd and a good environment to be in, and I've got lots of friends in similar businesses who always offer help and support where they can. I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I do."

Steve added: "Always be original is the slogan, so try it Plot 34A and see what you think!"
