A NEW £100,000 children’s play park has opened in Basingstoke on a new housing estate.
Vistry Group paid for the new play area under the terms of its planning agreement for the Hounsome Fields development, where 750 homes are being built.
The new park, called Treetop Avenue Play Park, is on the edge of the new development, opposite Basingstoke Golf Club on the A30 Winchester Road.

It includes 10 different pieces of equipment including swings, a slide, and a climbing frame.
Trevor Wicks, managing director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “Vistry Group is creating a new community of around 750 homes at Hounsome Fields, under the company’s Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands, and is located on land opposite Basingstoke Golf Club.
“The development includes the delivery of green open spaces and a play area, which was opened at the end of July.
"The play area, which has 10 different pieces of play equipment, was designed by specialists and approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s planning department ahead of the installation.

“We hope residents of Hounsome Fields and the surrounding areas enjoy making use of this new facility.”
Planning permission was granted for 750 homes to be built on the site in September 2017, however, the development was delayed whilst a licence to fell trees was sought.
The first phase of the construction of Hounsome Fields started in April 2021 with the building of 143 homes, followed by the opening of the first showhome in March 2022.
The fourth and final phase of the development is expected to be complete by the winter of 2024.
There are a range of two, three, four and five-bed homes on the new development, starting at £357,500.
Plans for the site also include the construction of a £14.5m new eco-friendly primary school for 420 children, which was approved by Hampshire County Council in July.
