THE struggle to access an NHS dentist continues in Basingstoke and Deane as most practices continue to refuse new patients. 

More than 180,000 people live across the borough, but very few dentist surgeries are open to new NHS patients.

Just one dentist is accepting adults over 18 who require NHS treatment, according to NHS website 'Find a Dentist'.

Find a Dentist regularly updates with information about local dentists, and provides information about which dentists are accepting NHS patients. 

There are three dentists who are accepting children under the age of 17 for NHS treatment. 

Five dentists will accept NHS patients, but only if they are referred to by another dentist.

Eight dentists in the borough are not accepting NHS patients at all. 

For many, the cost of private dental care will be unaffordable due to the Cost of Living crisis which has seen bills, food and other costs soar.
