A BASINGSTOKE couple who have completely transformed an allotment space into a beautiful display hope to inspire others to do the same.
Ted Recko moved to Basingstoke from Toronto in October 2020 with his partner to be closer to family and friends.
When the pair moved Ted immediately wanted to get on the waiting list for an allotment plot at the Churchill Way Allotments site.
Ted was finally given an allotment plot in mid-April this year, which was completely overgrown.
In just a few weeks the pair completely transformed the allotments, clearing and planting to bring them back to life.

Ted said: "After just over three months, you see the result. It’s more dramatic when you see the first picture, of empty lots with all the rubbish. I can’t believe it myself."
The pair believe that allotments are a great way to bring the community together and hope to encourage new gardeners, inspire more people to get on the list, and showcase how "green this lovely town really is".
Ted continued: "Allotments are a passion and these gardeners are dedicated to keeping them going."
They now hope more residents will sign up to have their own allotment.
