The family of a three-year-old girl battling leukaemia have been celebrating after undertaking a cycle to raise funds for charity.

After being poorly for a year, in June, Priscilla-Rose Thomas, from Tadley, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia - JMML Cronin blood cancer - a type of slowly developing chronic blood cancer that occurs in young children.

Priddi, as she is known to her family, is due to start chemotherapy and will soon undergo a bone marrow transplant, after which she will need to isolate for at least two months at the hospital with only her mother Allena in her bubble.

To raise funds to aid Priddi's treatment, as well as for Royal Marsden Hospital London and Great Ormond Street Hospital, Priddi's family held a fundraising event on August 5 at Santander in Basingstoke.

Members of staff at Santander and members of Priddi's family used a spin bike, borrowed from Basingstoke Sports Centre to cycle the equivalent distance of Great Ormond Street to Basingstoke on the same day.

While this was going on, two members of Priddi's family - her uncle and cousin Adam and Kean Hamilton-Jones - cycled from Great Ormond Street in London back to the Swan pub in Sherborne St John, where they were greeted with a drink and some sandwiches after a 61-mile cycle.

The event raised £750 across a number of Santander branches, which will be matched by Santander and paid directly to Great Ormond Street or Royal Marsden London. Priddi's GoFundMe has so far raised £2,400, with donations still being made.

Priddi's aunt, Nina Hamilton-Jones, said: "A massive thank you to The Swan pub for putting on the sandwiches and giving us an area to greet the boys back from the ride, and also to Sports Centre for loaning the bike for the staff to complete the branch challenge.

"We'd like to extend that thanks to all our Santander customers who sponsored the event on the day. The staff in the branch matched the boys' bike ride of Adam and Kean Hamilton-jones who cycled 61 miles, defeating the wind and rain from London to Basingstoke.

"Thank you to Lush, Bear Factory, Costa, Tiger and Holland and Barrett for all personally putting together a hamper for Priddi to take into hospital with her, and a big thanks to the Card Direct staff in Festival Place for supplying the orange balloons for the decorating. A lovely kind customer also made some cakes to feed all the supporters on the returning bike ride."
