A POPULAR Basingstoke restaurant has been declared one of the best curry houses in England after winning for the third year at an annual awards.
Spices and Spirits, in Kings Furlong, took home the top award for Best Curry Restaurant of the Year for the South East at the 12th English Curry Awards, which celebrates the best curry houses and chefs across the country.
Nitin Patil, who owns the restaurant, said the team is “thrilled to have won” adding: “We’re so grateful to our loyal customers for taking the time to vote for us.

“Both our team and our returning guests were very excited about the award, it’s incredibly motivating to be recognised in the English Curry Awards and has doubtlessly encouraged new guests to visit to try the best authentic Indian cuisine in Basingstoke.
“Winning the English Curry Award in the third consecutive year is a great feeling. It’s been a lovely achievement for the whole team who create the outstanding dishes and knowing that it’s all voted for publicly makes it an even more valuable accolade for us.
“To win this award, we did what we do best – focusing on delivering an exceptional experience for every one of our guests.”
The awards were held on Monday, August 14, at The Holiday Inn in Birmingham when more than 400 guests attended to hear the winners announced.

The awards recognise and celebrate the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the English curry industry, with a range of award categories including Chef of the Year and Voter’s Best Choice Restaurant of the Year.
