The egg-free cake shop, which opened in 2020, is part of a franchise, which launched in East London in 2008, with a mission to provide the UK with a new concept; delicious fresh cream celebration cakes made without using eggs, on demand.

It now has almost 200 branches across the UK.

The hygiene inspector who visited the Basingstoke branch said ‘major improvement’ is needed for food safety management.

This includes having systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and confidence by the food safety officer that standards will be maintained in the future.

The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building was also deemed to need improvements.

This includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand-washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Hygiene food handling, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, was found to be ‘generally satisfactory’.
