BEST friends and bandmates from Basingstoke have been celebrating after taking part in and winning a popular Saturday night quiz show.
Carl Fryer, 32, and Dan Franklin, 31, who met as students at Queen Mary's College, beat the competition in the Saturday, August 5 edition of BBC One's popular music quiz show The Hit List.
The Hit List is a music quiz show hosted by Marvin and Rochelle Humes, in which pairs of contestants are tasked with naming as many hit songs and artists as possible under time pressure.
The pairs of contestants hear a short audio clip, and from this must determine the correct answer. The players with the quickest reaction time gains victory. After three rounds, one pair of contestants are able to play for a £10,000 grand prize.

Dan and Carl, who form two-thirds of the cover band One Man Down' travelled to BBC's television studios at Pacific Quay in Glasgow to film the episode, putting their diverse music knowledge to the ultimate test, before working hard to beat the clock in the final round to claim their winnings of £4,198.
Carl, who is also a solo musician, has recorded several original EPS and played at local venues including The Anvil.
Carl was originally born in Basingstoke and lived there for over 30 years, but now lives with his fiancée Sophie in Camberley. He is planning on using some of his winnings towards their honeymoon after they get married next year.

Dan, who is a drummer and member of former local rock band Forever August, lives in Chineham with his wife Emma. Dan plans to use his prize money share on a holiday.
Carl and Dan said: “We watch The Hit List with our other halves every week and knew we’d be a perfect fit to apply for the show given that music is a huge part of both of our lives.
"So to have been asked to take part in the show and experience what we see on TV is a pretty surreal feeling. We are very grateful we made it through to the final round and more importantly came away with some prize money. It was a fantastic experience,”
