A BASINGSTOKE teenager came away with a bronze medal at the South of England Athletics Championship.
On the weekend of August 12, three members of Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletics Club competed at the Lee Valley athletics stadium, with Daisy Allford earning a bronze medal for her efforts.
Daisy was competing in the 800m U15 girls’ category where she came up against the top two fastest girls in the country.

Fighting valiantly, the young runner was rewarded with third place with a time of 2.15.36, cementing her spot in the UK top 10 for her age category.
Alongside Daisy’s triumph, Imogen Edwards competed in the U17 girls 1500m finishing in fifth place with a time of 4.46.90.
As well as the success on the track, Georgie Hedderly competed in the field event of shot putt throwing just shy of his personal best with a 11.66m seeing the promising boy finish just outside the medals in fifth place.
