A POPULAR bakery in Old Basing is celebrating three successful years in business.
On Wednesday, August 15, The Street Bakeshop marked three years since opening its doors.
The bakery has plans to expand in 2024 to accommodate the demand for its pastries and cakes, including its popular doughnuts, with different flavours each week for which there is a queue every Thursday.

The location of the second shop is undecided with owner Tim Goodwin suggesting that “conversations are ongoing with areas within Basingstoke as well as further afield as we try to find a location that suits us”.
The bakeshop currently employs 40 people but hopes to have 15 to 20 more people on board next year with plans to expand its good quality food to the wider area of Hampshire.
Opening in 2020, The Street Bakeshop has been met with positive praise from customers who “appreciate the hard work and attention to detail that goes into making everything from scratch”.
Speaking about the business’s third anniversary, Susanne Goodwin said: “Since taking over this building, 95 per cent of residents have been very supportive of the business. We have brought fresh homemade bread back to the village and it has been well received by nearby homeowners.”

With queues going out the door, accessible parking is hard to find due to the narrow village streets, but the couple have assured readers that their next outlet will have better parking.
"We will plan the car parking better at our second unit. We underestimated how successful our bakery would get. Hopefully, a second unit will help reduce the traffic in the village of Old Basing."
The Street Bakeshop strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
"We shop locally for our products. Our eggs come from a farm 10 miles away, our milk comes from Winchester and our flour comes from the Cotswolds,” Tim continued.

The shop has also had to keep up with the current changes in customer preferences.
He added, “A lot of our customers have been looking for more vegan options, so we have added a whole range of vegan products as well as our new vegan energy bars which have proven a hit with some of our customers.”
You can catch Tim at Newlyns farm in September where he will be teaching a bread and pastry baking class.
