THE AA said it is “still looking” for a building to relocate to after putting its headquarters in Basing View up for sale last year.
As previously reported, Fanum House was put up for sale in December 2022 after the AA decided the 47-year-old building no longer meets its needs for a modern work environment.
The property is being jointly marketed by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, as the freehold owner of the site, and the AA, which still holds a long lease on the property.

A spokesperson for the AA said it is “still looking” for an alternative building for its staff to relocate to, and as yet has not signed any agreement.
A spokesperson added: “The plan is we wish to vacate Fanum House but we have not yet picked the right building that’s best for our employees and business going forward.
“No decision has been made yet. We are still looking at properties and we will communicate with our staff first once we find something suitable.”
The plan is to relocate all staff to a different building. The decision was made following changes in working habits, including the introduction of hybrid working.

The AA spokesperson said: “The building is certainly of its time and we have done lots of improvements inside to make it better for our employees, but it is a building of its time and takes work to maintain and look after.
“The AA’s business has also changed and we aren’t filling the building. It’s 17 floors. Once upon a time, we would have filled it, but now we offer hybrid working and things have changed.”
The borough council said in February this year that there has been “a lot of interest” from the property sector in Fanum House and its 7.8-acre site.
It said the next stage would be formal bid submissions for the lease on the building and site.
“Any offers received would then be reviewed to consider any suitable ones to take forward to the next stages of the process before a final decision is made by the council and the AA,” a council spokesperson said.
