A 10-YEAR-OLD girl from Basingstoke has once again secured her position as a rising star in the world of wakeboarding with a string of victories in world championships.

Mary Jones, from Kempshott, had become the world wakeboarding champion in her age category, followed by a remarkable second place in the traditional category at the Wakeboarding World Championships.

Fast forward to this year, and Mary's journey continues to be one of triumph and achievement.

She clinched her second WWA Wake Park World Championship title in the under-10 category, further solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with in the wakeboarding realm.

Mary also secured victory at the under-12 Wakesurfing European Championship, held at the familiar Liquid Leisure in Windsor.

She then went on to become the under-11 British national champion in a championship held at Whitemills in Sandwich, Kent.

Mary's introduction to wakeboarding began during the lockdown, when she and her father, David Jones, explored watersports activities, initially trying waterskiing behind a boat.

However, it was wakeboarding that truly captured Mary's heart.

Looking ahead, Mary's aspirations remain sky-high.

She's set her sights on the international stage, with plans to participate in the under-13 category of the WWA Wake Park World Championship in the United States.

Mary also aims to join the UK wakeboarding team once she turns 11.

Mary's dreams further took wings this year as she performed her first skydive in Thailand, fulfilling a wish she'd held since the age of five.
