A MAN who was seen carrying a suspected firearm on a footbridge in Basingstoke has been arrested.
Basingstoke Cops took to Facebook to share the news about the incident which happened on Thursday, September 14 in the Popley and Oakridge areas of Basingstoke.
A post on Facebook from Basingstoke Cops reads: "Police received a report at 6.54pm of a man, with what looked like a firearm, walking on a footbridge between Popley and Oakridge. Further reports followed, including from motorists on Ringway North."

Officers attended and a 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
The post continues: "The weapon was seized by specialist officers and deemed to be an imitation firearm. We would like to reassure the local community that we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public."
The man is currently in police custody while enquiries continue.
